Man held in Bengal for woman’s death in Guwahati hotel

Six days after a woman was allegedly found murdered in a hotel room in Guwahati, Assam Police with the help of its West Bengal counterpart, arrested the prime suspect from a hotel in Bengal’s Cooch Behar.

Faizuddin (36), a resident of Lakhipur in lower Assam’s Goalpara district, was in the hotel room and had been absconding after the murder. Police said Faizuddin had checked into the hotel located in Guwahati’s Fancy Bazar area on January 23 with Amisha Khatoon. Her body was recovered with a gag in her mouth in the hotel room on Wednesday.

Police suspect an extra-marital affair between the accused and the deceased woman. Police sources said the accused has two wives in Goalpara and Tezpur in Assam.
