Man Killed in Elephant Attack in Udalguri

Udalguri: A man identified as Sitaram Dhanuwar was trampled to death by a wild elephant at Farmline Badalapara under Dimakuchi police station on Sunday night. The incident comes amid rising human-elephant conflict in the Indo-Bhutan border villages of the district.

Residents and local organisations have urged the Assam Government and Forest Department to establish forest outposts in vulnerable areas. Official data shows that between 2022 and 2025, 44 people and 28 elephants lost their lives in conflict-related incidents in Udalguri district.
