Me-Dam-Me-Phi Observed in Jorhat with Call to Preserve Ahom Heritage

The Tai Ahom community observed Me-Dam-Me-Phi in Jorhat on Saturday with traditional rituals at Raja Maidam, the last resting place of the final Ahom king, Purandar Singha. Organised by the Tai Ahom Yuva Parishad Assam, priests performed Ban-Phi rituals to honour ancestors and pray for peace. The organisers renewed their demand for the preservation of the heritage site, urging the Assam government to begin conservation work to protect the Ahom dynasty’s last capital.
