Meghalaya Researchers Turn Used Tea Leaves Into Clean Biofuel

Scientists at the University of Science and Technology Meghalaya have developed a method to convert discarded tea leaves into bioethanol, a clean renewable fuel. Using iron–zinc oxide nanocatalysts and microwave-assisted processing, the team achieved a 75% yield. The study, published in Biomass Conversion and Biorefinery, offers a sustainable way to turn tea waste into energy and reduce environmental impact.
