Meghalaya Sets Up Seven New Border Outposts Along Assam Border
Meghalaya Deputy CM Prestone Tynsong announced the establishment of seven new Border Outposts (BOPs) in four districts along the Assam border to enhance security. The outposts are located in Ri Bhoi, West Khasi Hills, East Jaintia Hills, and West Jaintia Hills. Tynsong reaffirmed the government’s commitment to protecting border residents. The move follows ongoing efforts to resolve Assam-Meghalaya border disputes, including the 2022 agreement settling six of twelve contentious areas. Additionally, nine new police outposts have been approved to strengthen law enforcement across Meghalaya.
