Minister Ashok Singhal Charts Flood Mitigation Plans for Guwahati

Housing and Urban Affairs Minister Ashok Singhal directed officials to draft short- and long-term strategies to tackle Guwahati’s flood issues. In a meeting under the “Mission Flood Free Guwahati,” advanced drainage systems, sludge removal, and waste disposal were prioritized for flood-prone areas like Rukminigaon and Hatigaon.

Recommendations from a citizen-led committee and satellite surveys guided actionable plans for implementation within three to four months. Singhal also reviewed progress on drainage projects and urban development initiatives by key departments, emphasizing a collaborative, data-driven approach.
