Missing Assam Teacher Found Dead in Nagaland River

The body of Abhijit Saikia, a teacher from Titabor in Assam’s Jorhat district, was recovered from a river in Nagaland nearly a week after he went missing. Saikia had recently joined Jawahar Navodaya Vidyalaya (JNV) in the Usha area and had left home to rejoin duty earlier this month but never reached the school.

After his disappearance, school authorities filed an FIR at Usha Chitukong Police Station. About seven days later, fishermen spotted a decomposed body in a river nearly 25 km from the school in a forested area and informed the police.

The body has been sent for post-mortem, and police have launched an investigation to determine the exact cause of death. Family members have demanded a thorough probe into the incident.
