MoA Signed for Fisheries Management at Subansiri Lower HE Project

A Memorandum of Agreement (MoA) was signed between the Department of Fisheries, Government of Arunachal Pradesh, and Subansiri Lower HE Project, NHPC, to implement a Fisheries Management Plan at the 2000 MW Subansiri Lower HE Project. The MoA was signed by Joyshil Taba, Director of Fisheries, and Manmeet Singh Chowdhary, General Manager (Environment) of NHPC Ltd., in the presence of Rajendra Prasad, Executive Director and HOP of the project.

The plan includes developing hatcheries for rearing fish species such as Golden Mahseer, Snow Trout, and Indian Major and Minor Carps. As part of the conservation measures, around 6000 fingerlings of Indian Major Carps were released into the Subansiri River downstream of the dam to sustain riverine ecology.
