Nalbari Prepares for 93rd Raas Mahotsav as Jayanta Malla Baruah Reviews Festival Arrangements

The 13-day religious and cultural celebration will take place at Sri Sri Hari Mandir from November 24 to December 6, 2026.
Nalbari, November 3, 2026: Preparations are gathering momentum in Assam’s Nalbari district for one of the region’s most celebrated religious and cultural events, with the 93rd Nalbari Raas Mahotsav scheduled to begin on November 24 and continue until December 6, 2026.
Ahead of the 13-day festival, Nalbari MLA Jayanta Malla Baruah held a review meeting at Sri Sri Hari Mandir to assess organisational arrangements and ensure that preparations progress according to schedule.
The meeting brought together convenors, co-convenors and representatives of different sub-committees responsible for organising the annual celebration.
Organising Committees Asked to Complete Preparations on Time
During the discussions, Baruah examined the progress of work undertaken by the committees and provided directions aimed at ensuring effective coordination among the organisers.
He stressed the importance of completing preparations before the commencement of the festival so that devotees and visitors can participate in the celebrations without unnecessary difficulties.
The MLA also encouraged committee members to work collectively and maintain close coordination throughout the planning process.
According to information shared by Baruah on social media, the review was intended to assess the readiness of the organising teams and address matters requiring attention before the festival begins.
Raas Mahotsav Reflects Nalbari’s Cultural Heritage
The Nalbari Raas Mahotsav has long occupied a special place in the religious and cultural traditions of Assam.
Celebrated at the historic Sri Sri Hari Mandir, the annual festival brings together devotion, traditional performing arts and community participation.
The celebrations centre on the life and divine activities of Lord Krishna, with Raas Leela performances and religious observances forming an important part of the occasion.
Over the years, the festival has developed into a major cultural attraction, drawing devotees, artists and visitors from different parts of Assam and beyond.
Baruah described the event as an important expression of Nalbari’s cultural identity and called for continued cooperation among organisers and local stakeholders to preserve its significance.
Thirteen Days of Religious and Cultural Celebrations
The 93rd edition is scheduled to run from Tuesday, November 24, to Sunday, December 6, 2026.
Traditionally, Nalbari’s Raas celebrations feature religious rituals, artistic representations of episodes from Lord Krishna’s life, cultural performances and community gatherings.
The festival is also known for its fairground activities, local markets and mobile theatre performances, which contribute to the festive atmosphere across Nalbari town.
These activities have helped establish Raas Mahotsav as an important event in Assam’s cultural calendar.
The detailed programme for the upcoming edition, including individual performance schedules and other attractions, is expected to be communicated by the organisers.
Collective Efforts to Ensure Successful Celebrations
With the festival approaching, the organising committees are focusing on the remaining arrangements for the event.
Baruah has emphasised that cooperation among the various committees will be essential to maintaining the festival’s traditions and ensuring its successful conduct.
The review meeting forms part of the preparations ahead of the annual gathering, which holds considerable religious, cultural and social importance for the people of Nalbari.
As the countdown begins, Sri Sri Hari Mandir is preparing to welcome devotees and visitors for another edition of the historic Raas Mahotsav, continuing a tradition deeply associated with the town’s identity.
