Nearly 30 Lakh Households Covered in Assam’s Electoral Roll Revision

The Special Revision of electoral rolls in Assam has covered 29,68,961 households so far. During the verification, officials identified 1,67,925 deceased voters, 1,29,676 shifted electors, 2,63,837 eligible voters aged 18+ who are yet to enroll, and 65,973 prospective new voters.

The CEO’s office stated that 29,656 booth-level officers are conducting door-to-door verification, with each required to make three visits if homes are locked. Additionally, 61,533 booth-level agents from various political parties are involved to maintain transparency.

An appeal mechanism is in place for any correction, allowing decisions to be challenged before the District Magistrate or the Chief Electoral Officer as needed.
