NEP Implementation Delays Raise Concerns for Assam Students

Thousands of students in Assam face uncertainty as colleges struggle to implement the National Education Policy (NEP) due to inadequate infrastructure and faculty shortages.

With fourth-year degree admissions scheduled for July, many colleges remain unprepared. While Dibrugarh University has released its syllabus, Gauhati University is yet to do so, delaying academic preparations.

Colleges also lack sufficient teachers, classrooms, laboratories, and research facilities required for the four-year degree programme. Critics say the State Government failed to strengthen infrastructure before rolling out the NEP in 2023, despite earlier concerns raised by the All Assam Students’ Union (AASU).
