New Immigration Checkpoint Inaugurated at Assam-Bhutan Border to Boost Ties

An immigration checkpoint (ICP) was inaugurated at Darranga, Tamulpur district, strengthening ties between Assam and Eastern Bhutan. Bhutan’s Prime Minister Tshering Tobgay, Assam Governor Lakshman Prasad Acharya, and union ministers attended the event. Tobgay emphasized the checkpoint’s role in enhancing trade, tourism, and bilateral relations, while Governor Acharya highlighted Assam’s pivotal role in fostering Indo-Bhutan ties. The ICP, located near the Bhutan border, aims to boost regional connectivity and economic growth. Key officials, including Union ministers and India’s Ambassador to Bhutan, were present.
