Newborn’s Body Recovered from Brahmaputra in Dhubri, Probe Launched

The body of a newborn was recovered from the Brahmaputra River near Jogamaya Ghat in Dhubri on Saturday, prompting a police investigation. The matter surfaced after locals spotted the body floating in the river and informed the police.

Officials said the body was sent to Dhubri Medical College and Hospital for a post-mortem examination. Preliminary inputs suggest the infant may have been delivered at a medical facility before being dumped into the river.

Police have launched a probe to identify those involved, examining hospital records and CCTV footage, and have appealed to the public for information to assist the investigation.
