NFR Achieves 96% Electrification with Major Milestone in Tinsukia Division

The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has completed major electrification works in the Tinsukia Division, marking a key milestone in its electrification programme. Successful inspection and testing were carried out on the Tinsukia–Dangari and Makum–Ledo sections.
With this, NFR has electrified 4,170.19 route kilometres out of 4,324.15 RKM, achieving 96.43 per cent electrification across the zone as of December 31, 2025. Overhead equipment was energised from the Dibrugarh Traction Sub-Station, and electric locomotive trials were conducted successfully at full speed.
Railway officials said full electrification of the Tinsukia Division will improve operational efficiency, reduce costs and emissions, and support sustainable railway operations in the region.
