NFR Restores Flood-Damaged Rail Tracks, Resumes Diesel Train Services in Upper Assam

Guwahati, August 7: The Northeast Frontier Railway (NFR) has restored flood-damaged railway tracks at Simaluguri and nearby areas in Sivasagar district, resuming train operations with diesel locomotives as a safety measure. NFR General Manager Chetan Kumar Shrivastava inspected the restored infrastructure and reviewed the situation.

As many flood-affected families are still sheltering near the railway tracks, NFR said diesel-powered trains will continue to operate until conditions improve. Several local trains are running via Moranhat, while long-distance services remain diverted through North Lakhimpur, Rangapara North and Rangiya. Electric traction will resume once the affected residents safely return to their homes.
