NIA Arrests Another Accused in JMB-Linked Terror Conspiracy

The National Investigation Agency (NIA) arrested another accused in West Bengal on Saturday in connection with an alleged terror conspiracy linked to Imam Mahmuder Kafila (IMK), an offshoot of the banned Jama’atul Mujahideen Bangladesh (JMB). Digital devices, including mobile phones and memory cards, were seized during the arrest. The development follows the arrest of 13 accused on September 29, 2026, after searches across Assam, West Bengal and Kerala.
According to the NIA, the conspiracy aimed to spread extremist ideology, radicalise vulnerable youth and expand the banned outfit’s network in West Bengal and northeastern India. The agency had earlier filed a chargesheet against 11 accused before the NIA Special Court in Guwahati on June 25, 2026. Further investigation is underway.
