Northeast Frontier Railway Installs AI-Based Train Examination System

Northeast Frontier Railway has installed its first Automatic Train Examination System (ATES) at New Jalpaiguri. This AI-based technology uses cameras and sensors to monitor trains, capturing and analyzing visual data in real-time. ATES detects temperature anomalies in axle box bearings and wheels, generating alerts for timely maintenance, which improves train safety. It also identifies coach numbers and inspects train doors for potential safety hazards. Currently in the observation stage, ATES is expected to enhance train safety and operational efficiency once fully operational.
