Northeast Land Ports to Boost Trade, Says LPAI Chairman

LPAI Chairman Aditya Mishra announced that the Northeast is being prioritized for new land ports along international borders to enhance trade. The first Integrated Check Post (ICP) was inaugurated at Darranga, along the Indo-Bhutan border, with five more planned.

India has 15,000 km of land borders, and the LPAI has developed 15 land ports, with 9 under construction. Mishra emphasized that these ports will streamline cross-border movement and boost trade by integrating customs, immigration, and security under one roof. Several land ports in Assam, Meghalaya, Tripura, and Manipur are already functional.
