Numaligarh Refinery Expansion Nears Completion, Set to Boost Capacity and Exports

Over 75% of Numaligarh Refinery’s mega expansion project is completed, with full completion expected by December 2025. The refinery’s capacity will triple from 3 MMTPA to 9 MMTPA, with an investment of ₹33,901 crore. A new 6 MMTPA refinery for imported crude and a 1,640 km crude oil pipeline from Paradip are under development. The project will enhance energy security, industrial growth, and employment in Assam. NRL plans to export surplus petroleum products to Bangladesh, Nepal, and Myanmar while sourcing crude globally for efficiency and stability.
