Obstetrics Student Expelled After Assaulting Pregnant Woman at GMCH

Dr. Abhishek Mahajan, a postgraduate student in the Obstetrics and Gynaecology department at Gauhati Medical College and Hospital (GMCH), faced expulsion for a year following allegations of assaulting a pregnant woman in the labour room. The incident occurred in the early hours of Thursday, resulting in facial bruises for the patient. Images of the injuries circulated on social media, prompting swift action from GMCH authorities. Superintendent Abhijit Sarma announced the formation of an inquiry committee chaired by Dr. BP Das to investigate the matter. After a thorough investigation, Dr. Mahajan was expelled from the institution for his actions.
