Orang Tiger Reserve Sees Rising Tiger Population

Assam’s Orang Tiger Reserve has become a conservation success, with tiger numbers increasing to over 26. Despite its small size of 78.8 sq km, the reserve supports diverse wildlife, including rhinos and elephants. Conservation efforts like patrolling, surveillance, and eco-sensitive zones help tackle human-wildlife conflicts. A recent move to restore 2,099 hectares in Burachapori Wildlife Sanctuary aims to strengthen connectivity with Kaziranga National Park.
