Over 600 Manipur Residents Seek Shelter in Assam’s Cachar District Amid Fresh Violence
In response to renewed violence in Manipur, over 600 residents from the Jiribam district have sought refuge in the Lakhipur subdivision of Cachar district, Assam. Cachar SP Numal Mahatta reported that most of the displaced individuals are women and children. Although the bordering areas of Cachar remain peaceful, security has been intensified, with Assam Police closely monitoring the situation.
Lakhipur MLA Kaushik Rai stressed the importance of maintaining peace and announced plans to engage with various communities in the area. The displaced residents are staying with relatives, while the District Administration and Police work to prevent any incidents. Rai reiterated the need for community cooperation to ensure tranquility in Cachar.
