Over 8,000 Assam P&RD Contract Staff on Strike Demanding Pay Hike and Job Security

More than 8,000 contractual employees of Assam’s Panchayat & Rural Development Department have been on strike since November 11, halting key schemes like MGNREGA and PMAY. They demand a ₹30,000 wage hike, yearly increments, job security till 60, and a clear HR policy. Despite forming a committee to review the demands, the government has not yet ended the protest.
