Pallorband Tea Estate Workers Protest for Pending Dues
Hundreds of workers from Pallorband Tea Estate and its four division gardens in Cachar staged a protest on Friday, demanding payment of pending wages, gratuity, and provident fund (PF) dues.
Barak Cha Shramik Union’s general secretary, Rajdeep Goala, highlighted that PF dues exceed ₹5 crore and gratuity over ₹2 crore. Workers also claim arrears and wages remain unpaid despite repeated requests.
The Cachar DC, Mridul Yadav, confirmed a tripartite meeting where the garden management committed to clearing pending wages by December 16 but sought more time for gratuity and PF payments. The administration has pressed the management to address the demands.
