Pijush Hazarika Seeks Greater Support for Pulse Cultivation in Assam

NEW DELHI: Assam Agriculture Minister Pijush Hazarika sought greater central support for pulse cultivation and small farmers at the National Conference on AgriStack and Mission for Aatmanirbharta in Pulses. He highlighted Assam’s potential for expanding pulse cultivation in rice-fallow areas and the char and chapori belts.

Hazarika urged priority allocation of suitable breeder seeds for the Northeast and a 100 per cent subsidy on certified pulse seeds for small and marginal farmers. He also sought the inclusion of small tea growers with Farmer IDs under AgriStack in the PM-KISAN scheme and highlighted Assam’s initiatives in agricultural infrastructure and farmer support.
