PM Modi to Inaugurate IAF Emergency Landing Facility at Moran

The Assam administration is gearing up for Prime Minister Narendra Modi’s visit to Moran on February 14 to inaugurate the Indian Air Force’s emergency landing facility on a four-lane highway. Built on a 4.2-km stretch of the Moran bypass, the facility is the first of its kind in the region and allows fighter aircraft to land on a national highway during emergencies.

Senior officials from the state government, Indian Air Force and district administration reviewed security, traffic and logistics arrangements. Trial fighter jet landings will begin from February 8. Traffic has been restricted on the bypass, with commuters advised to use the old NH-37. The event will be open to the public at designated areas, and the facility is expected to boost the IAF’s operational capability in the Northeast.
