POCSO Accused Injured in Police Firing During Alleged Escape Attempt in Kamrup

A 35-year-old man, identified as Akkas Ali, who was arrested in connection with an alleged sexual assault case involving a 10-year-old girl under the POCSO Act, was injured in police firing at Nowapara near Chaygaon in Kamrup district on Sunday night.

According to police, the accused allegedly attacked personnel and attempted to escape while being taken for investigation-related procedures. Police opened fire to stop him, injuring his left leg. He was later admitted to Gauhati Medical College and Hospital and remains under police custody.
