Poisonous Mushroom Consumption Leads to Death and Illness in Assam

In an unfortunate incident in Majuli, Assam, one person died and two others fell seriously ill after consuming poisonous mushrooms. The incident occurred in Borpamowa village of Jengraimukh. The deceased, identified as 66-year-old Tulsi Pegu, succumbed to the poisoning. The two others, 70-year-old Muhikanta Pegu and 25-year-old Sanjib Pegu, are undergoing treatment at Pitambardev Goswami District Hospital.

Authorities have initiated an investigation to prevent further poisoning cases in the area. This incident follows a similar one earlier this month in Golaghat, where eight individuals from two families were hospitalized after eating poisonous mushrooms. Those affected experienced severe symptoms such as headaches and vomiting and were treated at Shaheed Kushal Konwar Civil Hospital and Jorhat Medical College and Hospital.
