Police Stop Congress Delegation from Visiting Hojai Eviction Site

Hojai: Police on Sunday stopped an Assam Pradesh Congress Committee (APCC) delegation, led by Leader of the Opposition Wazed Ali Choudhury, from visiting Borbil under the Hojai Assembly constituency to assess the ongoing eviction drive. The delegation included former Rajya Sabha MP Ripun Bora, MLA Nurul Huda and other Congress leaders.

The APCC criticised the police and administration for preventing the visit, questioning why its leaders were not allowed to meet affected families. Congress leaders also alleged that the BJP government had sought minority voters’ support before the elections but initiated eviction drives against the same community afterward.
