Pollution at Deepor Beel and Dhakuakhana Crusher Units Raised in Assembly

On the second day of Assam’s Winter Assembly Session, MLAs flagged serious pollution concerns affecting Deepor Beel and Dhakuakhana. AGP MLA Ramendra Narayan Kalita alleged Guwahati’s unmanaged waste dumping was damaging the Ramsar site, while BJP MLA Naba Kumar Doley highlighted health hazards from multiple stone-crushing units.

Ministers Jayanta Malla Baruah and Chandra Mohan Patowary acknowledged the issues and informed the House about ongoing waste-processing work, plans for a second plant, and a committee to inspect crusher operations.

Multiple key bills, including amendments to autonomous councils, education reforms, and fee regulations, were also introduced during the session.
