Poor Power Infrastructure Raises Safety Concerns in Nalbari Village

Despite claims of improved rural electricity supply, residents allege that power conditions remain poor in many areas. While smart meters have been installed, villagers say power bills have increased and safety issues persist.

In Bargasa (Bharaltola) village of Nalbari district, electricity lines are reportedly supported by bamboo poles, with low-hanging live wires posing serious risks. An 11,000-volt transformer installed dangerously close to the roadside has further raised concerns, especially as schoolchildren pass the area daily. Locals blame APDCL officials for negligence.
