President’s Rule Imposed in Manipur After BJP Fails to Select New CM

The central government has imposed President’s rule in Manipur after BJP failed to finalize a new chief minister following N. Biren Singh’s resignation. The Ministry of Home Affairs issued an official notification confirming the decision.

Despite multiple discussions, BJP leaders, including northeast in-charge Sambit Patra, could not reach a consensus. Singh resigned a day before an Assembly session, but the Governor requested him to continue as caretaker CM. The Governor also declared the upcoming Assembly session “null and void.”
