Prime Suspect in Chirang Minor Assault Case Arrested Amid Protests

Jahiruddin Dewan, the prime suspect in the sexual assault of two minor girls in Sidli village, Chirang district, was arrested early Tuesday at New Bongaigaon Railway Station. Dewan, also accused of human trafficking, allegedly lured the minors with false job promises. His arrest followed intense local pressure and protests, including a 24-hour ultimatum from the Koch-Rajbongshi community, demanding swift police action.
