Private Initiative Brings Drinking Water to Biswanath Ghat Village

Residents of Biswanath Ghat Puroni Gaon have finally received access to safe drinking water after years of shortage, despite earlier efforts under the Jal Jeevan Mission. Although taps were installed, water supply remained non-functional due to rocky terrain and fluoride contamination. The issue was resolved after Dr. Kishore Hazarika of Green Ashiyana Welfare Foundation facilitated a scientifically identified groundwater system. Two water sources are now operational, with more planned, sparking criticism that a social activist succeeded where local leadership failed.
