Professor Killed in Road Accident While Returning from Polling Duty in Lakhimpur

A tragic incident occurred as a professor of a government college, Rajiv Lekharu, was killed in a road accident in Assam’s Lakhimpur while returning from polling duty. Rajiv Lekharu was an assistant professor in the Department of Commerce at Bihpuria College.

Reports indicate that he had been assigned election duty for the first phase of polling in Assam and had traveled to the designated polling booth. However, while returning home after the polling concluded, he met with an accident near Doolahat, approximately 23 kilometers from Bihpuria in Lakhimpur.

The collision occurred between his vehicle and an oncoming bus, resulting in his immediate death at the scene. Further details about the accident are awaited.
