Prostitution Racket Busted in Dhubri District, Assam

In the Panbari area near National Highway 17 in Dhubri district, a prostitution racket was exposed. The local community led the operation, resulting in the arrest of six women and five men. These individuals were handed over to the police. The illegal activities had been ongoing at the residence of Jel Hoque and Sapior Rahman (also known as Sopi). Despite villagers’ protests, the family continued their unlawful operations. Villagers took matters into their own hands, forcefully entering the residence and detaining those involved. In their frustration, the mob vandalized and set fire to the house. Gauripur police responded, apprehending the suspects for further questioning. Firefighters controlled the blaze.
