Rahul Gandhi Targets Assam CM, Promises Action and Welfare Measures

Leader of Opposition Rahul Gandhi launched a sharp attack on Assam Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma during a rally in Biswanath, accusing him of corruption and divisive politics. He alleged that Sarma spreads hatred and warned of legal action if the Indian National Congress returns to power.
Gandhi invoked icons like Srimanta Sankardeva, Bhupen Hazarika, Gopinath Bordoloi, Tarun Gogoi and Zubeen Garg, stressing Assam’s tradition of unity and harmony.
He also accused the governments led by Narendra Modi and Amit Shah of favoring select corporates and claimed land is being taken from locals.
Highlighting Congress promises, Gandhi said tea garden workers would receive ₹450 daily wages and six communities would be granted Scheduled Tribe status.
His remarks come amid intensified campaigning ahead of the April 9 Assam Assembly elections, marking his second visit to the state in three days.
