Raijor Dal Cites Ideological Differences After Congress Ends Alliance

Guwahati: Raijor Dal has said that fundamental ideological differences with the Congress made it difficult for the two parties to sustain a long-term alliance. The party’s working president Bhasko De Saikia and general secretaries Russell Hussain and Chinmoy Bora said the alliance was formed primarily to challenge the BJP.

The Raijor Dal leaders described Congress as a nationalist and “soft communal” party, while identifying their own organisation as a regionalist and nationalist force committed to socialism and Assam-centric issues. They also said the party had long felt that Congress lacked sufficient ideological firmness.
