Remote Assam Border Village Gets Electricity After 77 Years

Choto Pokalagi, a remote Assam village surrounded by West Bengal, has received electricity for the first time since Independence. Its unusual location had kept it off the power grid for decades.
On Thursday, a joint effort by Assam and West Bengal power authorities connected about 350 households to electricity. Residents called the move life-changing, saying it will improve education, healthcare and livelihoods in the long-isolated village.
