Residents Oppose Land Settlement Proposal in Mangaldai

Residents of Santipara, Krishna Nagar, and Gerimari, along with local schools, have opposed a proposal to allot three kathas of public land (Dag No. 2383 & 2384) to an NGO.

The land, used for festivals and recreational activities for decades, is the only open space for locals and students of Mangaldai Town Girls’ LP School, HS School, and Boys’ LP School. Residents claim earlier sacrifices for an overhead water tank were made under assurances of no further settlement.

Meetings have been held, and appeals have been made to MP Dilip Saikia and MLA Basanta Das to block the proposal. Locals vow to oppose the recommendation democratically.
