Retired Teachers in Assam Demand Pension, Gratuity and Free Healthcare

Two associations of retired school teachers in Assam have urged Chief Minister Himanta Biswa Sarma to resolve long-pending issues of pension, gratuity, and free healthcare for those who joined before 2005 and were provincialized in 2013. They said many retirees face severe financial hardship, lack medical access, and some have died due to stress and poverty. The groups demanded 50% of last basic pay as pension, ₹10 lakh gratuity as earlier promised, and healthcare coverage for all retired teachers and their families.
