Rising Water Levels Force Suspension of Ferry Services on Brahmaputra in Guwahati

Ferry services between the north and south banks of the Brahmaputra River in Guwahati have been suspended due to rising water levels. The District Disaster Management Authority reported on Monday that the river’s water level is nearing the danger mark in the city, although it had not yet exceeded it at Kacharighat. Continuous rains across Northeast India have caused the Brahmaputra and several tributaries to flow above their danger marks in multiple locations.
