Safari Elephant Dies Suddenly at Kaziranga’s Bagori Range

A 50-year-old female elephant named Swarnimoyee, used for safari in the Bagori range of Kaziranga National Park and Tiger Reserve, died on Thursday after completing a safari. The elephant collapsed suddenly on NH-715 without showing prior symptoms.
Despite immediate treatment by veterinarians, including saline and medication, the elephant collapsed again and died. Veterinarian Dr Biswajit Baruah said pneumonia leading to respiratory infection is suspected, with the final cause to be confirmed after the post-mortem report.
