Sarbananda Sonowal’s Ministry Tops Capital Expenditure in Infrastructure

The Ministry of Ports, Shipping, and Waterways, led by Union Minister Sarbananda Sonowal, utilized 76% of its allocated capital expenditure by November 2024, ranking highest among infrastructure ministries. The Economic Survey 2024-25 highlighted a significant capacity increase at ports, with a rise of 21 metric tons and improved container turnaround time from 48.1 to 30.4 hours. Sonowal credited Prime Minister Modi’s leadership for the maritime sector’s growth, aiming to position India among the top 10 maritime nations globally.
