SEBA Announces HSLC Compartmental Exam 2024 with Updated Rules

The Board of Secondary Education, Assam (SEBA) has declared that the compartmental examinations for the High School Leaving Certificate (HSLC) examination 2024 will take place from May 28 to June 3. Notably, elective subjects will be allocated 3 hours, while others will have a duration of 2 hours, reflecting a rule change for this year. Additionally, students will only reappear for the subjective part of the question papers; the objective part will not be repeated.

The Compartmental Examination is for candidates who did not pass the HSLC Examination 2024 but failed in a maximum of three subjects, scoring a minimum of 170 marks in aggregate. These candidates have a single chance to appear in the compartmental exam. Success requires securing at least 30% marks in the subjects appeared, with a total score of 180 or above.

Successful candidates can proceed to higher classes in the same academic year. However, if they fail the Compartmental Examination, they must seek re-admission in their respective schools to appear again as regular candidates.

Importantly, the compartmental exam covers only theory papers. Marks from practical examinations, OMR Answer-sheets in core subjects, and Internal Assessment in the HSLC Examination 2024 will be carried over for the subjects in the Compartmental Examination, where applicable.
