Security Breach at Guwahati Central Jail: Mobile Phones Seized from Inmates

A security breach at Guwahati Central Jail has raised concerns after four mobile phones were seized from Cell Number 10, housing inmates Debanjan Saha, involved in a narcotics case, and Amarendra Singh, accused of murder. Jail authorities have been issued a show cause notice to explain how the phones were smuggled into the facility.

This incident follows a similar breach in February at Dibrugarh Central Jail, where unauthorized devices were found in the NSA cell housing ‘Waris Punjab De’ chief Amritpal Singh and his associates. Increased surveillance by Assam DGP Gyanendra Pratap Singh led to the discovery of smartphones, spy cameras, and other illegal items, prompting collaborative efforts to dismantle suspected anti-national operations linked to ISI and the Anandpur Khalsa Fauj militia.
