Silchar–Agartala Express Upgraded to LHB Coaches, Boosting Comfort and Safety

The New Year brought good news for Barak Valley rail passengers as the Silchar–Agartala–Silchar Express was upgraded to modern LHB coaches from Wednesday, replacing older ICF coaches. The service was flagged off at Silchar station in the presence of Rajya Sabha MP Kanad Purkayastha, Silchar MP Parimal Suklabaidya, Silchar MLA Dipayan Chakraborty, and railway officials.

Purkayastha said the LHB conversion will enhance safety and passenger comfort, adding that the Rangiya–Silchar Express will also be upgraded next month. He thanked Prime Minister Narendra Modi and Railway Minister Ashwini Vaishnaw, and said efforts are on to introduce Vande Bharat services to Silchar, with options being explored for a new station.
