SIT Files Chargesheet in Zubeen Garg Death Case, Murder Charges Invoked

The Special Investigation Team (SIT) on Friday filed a chargesheet at the Chief Judicial Magistrate’s Court in Guwahati in connection with the death of cultural icon Zubeen Garg. SIT chief Munna Prasad Gupta said murder charges have been invoked against four accused, along with conspiracy and other offences.

The main chargesheet runs into about 2,500 pages, with total documents exceeding 12,000 pages, including evidence collected from Singapore. After scrutiny by the magistrate, the case will be committed to the Sessions Court for trial. While the Assam Chief Minister termed the death a murder, Singapore Police have said their preliminary findings do not indicate foul play, with the final report awaited.
