Six Arrested in Guwahati for Posting Offensive Cow Slaughter Videos on Instagram

In a significant action, Guwahati Police arrested six individuals for allegedly sharing offensive video clips related to cow slaughter on Instagram. The videos, deemed provocative and capable of inciting communal disharmony, drew widespread concern.

The arrested individuals have been identified as Sahil Khan (20), Hafizur Islam (19), Rokibul Husain (20), Sahidul Islam (30), Izaz Khan (26), and Jahidul Islam (24). All of them are residents of Chhaygaon, a locality in Assam.

The police acted swiftly upon receiving reports about the Instagram posts, which showcased content considered sensitive and offensive to certain communities. These videos reportedly violated legal provisions related to promoting enmity and disturbing public harmony.

Authorities have emphasized the importance of maintaining communal peace and have urged citizens to use social media platforms responsibly. Further investigations are underway to determine the intent behind the posts and whether there was any organized effort to create discord.
