Sonitpur Health Department Launches Malaria Prevention Month Campaign
The Sonitpur District Health Department is celebrating Malaria Prevention Month from June 1 to June 30 to raise awareness and educate the public on malaria prevention. During the campaign launch, Joint Director Health Sonitpur, Dr. J Ahmed, shared preventive measures against malaria. Chief Medical Officer Dr. Rupak Barua reported that 49,484 blood samples have been collected in the district, identifying five active malaria cases. With the rainy season increasing mosquito breeding, residents are urged to remain vigilant. The campaign includes 387 awareness meetings and extensive testing, with 42,311 blood samples sent to laboratories and 12,772 tested using rapid diagnostic kits. The event was attended by various health officials, including District Leprosy Officer Dr. T B Chetry and District Malaria Officer Kakali Dutta.
